The Associated Students of Willamette University (ASWU) Senate convened on Thursday, April 4 for its weekly meeting. This was the first meeting since ASWU executive elections were held the week before spring break, and was a chance for senators to meet the new executive team for the upcoming school year.
Amarit Ubhi, who is currently a senator for the Class of 2020, was elected as president, while her fellow Class of 2020 Senator Tatiana Amrein won the seat of Vice President. Carlo Rivas (‘20), who currently serves as the ASWU Clerk, will step into the role of Treasurer. As of now, all three exec-elects are undergoing transitions with the seniors who currently hold their roles: Akerah Mackey-Watkins, Erica Noble and Sarah Mische, respectively.
During the meeting, ASWU Senate also voted to approve the Clothing Share as a club. The Clothing Share is currently housed in Shepard House with the rest of the Students Organizing for Access to Resources (SOAR) Center, which is planning to move to a new location in the near future.
ASWU’s next meeting will be held this Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Ford 102.
