Hello, Bearcat Fan! As a historic and troubling October heat wave continues to pummel the West Coast, causing scientists to raise alarm bells regarding the existential threat of climate change, Bearcat fall sports are heating up in their own right! Let’s go to the news …

Women’s soccer extended their winning streak to three, finding crucial set-piece goals to defeat the Boxers and Wildcats (1-0 each). Nina Krassner-Cybulski (’25) has six goals in six games — the ‘Cats continue to hold down the No. 3 spot.

Volleyball swept Pacific and Linfield, drastically improving to 4-4 in conference and No. 5 overall.Football. 0-48. Whitworth. Oh, umm … hang on … we have a caller …

“Hello?”

Caller: “Hey, The Collegian, this is John from Portland. Long-time reader, first-time caller here: I gotta say, the B-Cats have shown a few moments of coherence this season, particularly in the run-game. Also, in the Whitworth game Rivera threw for over 100 and rushed for God knows how much. Is aerial defensive coverage the last key for us to get a win? Or do the needless turnovers on the other side of the ball warrant a personnel overhaul we just don’t have the recruiting prowess to pull off?”“Beats me, John. Thanks for calling, but I don’t know how you did this and I’m going to have to ask that you don’t do it again.” Click!

Men’s soccer led early against Pacific, but a keeper error among other mishaps kept them from a victory (1-3). First-time scorers Rory McKee (’26) and Owen Albrecht (’28) leveled the ‘Cats to draw Linfield at twos over the weekend.

Golf fans anxiously await the results of the NWC Fall Classic — the men are top of the table as of Monday afternoon. Saida Seelig (’26), alone on the roster, registered at 36th for the women.

Kalima Glascott (’28) and Ella Isaacson (’25) led the way for triathlon as North Central dominated the DIII schools at the West National Qualifiers.

In the world of sport: Oregon Ducks football defeated Ohio State to move to No. 2 in the FBS, the Minnesota Lynx stole game one of the WNBA finals, and Hurricane Milton shredded the roof of Tropicana Field in Tampa.
