Hello, Bearcat Fan! Between 30 and 60 of you have been reading the sports report since I started writing it two years ago. Whether you be planktons, drifting into the anemone that is the Fast Break once or never again, or a super-fan who's been crouched under my porch for months, please write a thoughtful comment below. The best commenter will get a special Fast Break message in next week’s Valentine’s edition. Let’s go to the news!

MBB bailed enough water to stay afloat, narrowly pulling ahead of Lewis and Clark (62-56) and George Fox (111-104) to take their first two wins of the conference season. They need to win out the next seven games in order to have any kind of shot at the playoffs. Considering the boards D’Ante Dean (ʼ25) has been pulling down recently, I’m not ready to write them off.

WBB are locked in a dead-heat four-way tie for No. 5 after sneaking past the Pioneers (61-58) but falling to the Bruins (58-71). They face the invincible Whitman at home this Friday.

Swim’s preparing for the Conference Championships as their spring successors look forward to their first outings this week or the next.

In the world of sport: Luka Dončić’s heading to the Lakers, Anthony Davis will take his place on the Mavs, Canadians have been booing the star spangled banner, Leeds leads their league, Naomi Girma’s a million-dollar player and the Portland Timbers still have not signed a notable defender.

Consider in the coming weeks: Can baseball repeat their championship feat? Will tennis blaze a new trail? What does spring hold for our university in the cherry trees?
